Unstable Relationships

Experiencing frequent conflicts with your partner?

What are the symptoms?

In an unstable relationship, you regularly have problems and conflicts with your partner or you are having trouble with establishing longlasting and healthy friendships. It can feel like the relationship is on thin ice that can break at any moment. Individuals may suffer from low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, fatigue, or have a diagnosed disorder.

Often there are strong mood swings, for example from extreme love and passion to deep anger and frustration. You have difficulty communicating effectively and expressing your emotions, often leaving problems unresolved and piling up. This can lead to a feeling of insecurity, uncertainty and tension in your relationship.

Some characteristics of an unstable relationship are:

1 Experiencing problems in contact with others
2 Not trusting people or your own feelings
3 Feeling lonely or misunderstood
4 Often ending up in fierce quarrels or disagreements
5Having regular times when you do not interact with each other and do not or hardly ever communicate with each other so as not to aggravate the situation
6Having difficulty with authority and accepting boundaries

How does an unstable relationship develop and what are the consequences?

If you are dealing with communication problems, unequal expectations, infidelity, lack of trust or unresolved conflicts in your relationship, this can lead to feelings of insecurity and uncertainty. This, in turn, can lead to arguments, jealousy and stress. Failure to address these issues can result in an unhealthy dynamic where you are constantly trying to change or control your partner to increase your own sense of security.

An unstable relationship can have different consequences for you and your partner and for the relationship itself. Individually, you may suffer from low self-esteem, anxiety, depression and fatigue. In addition, an unstable relationship can also lead to a lack of intimacy and connectedness, allowing you to feel isolated and lonely. This can eventually lead to a decrease in satisfaction with the relationship and even to the end of the relationship.

In some cases, people try to save their relationships, and this can lead to violence. Love and aggression are like two sides of the same coin, constantly alternating. When couples or partners lack the secure connection in their relationship, they often become entangled in self-blame and mutual reproach.

Both physical and emotional violence can be addressed by ensuring emotional safety. This is how they can ultimately be physically safe again.

It is therefore important to tackle these problems as quickly as possible and to seek help if you feel that you are not able to solve it yourself.

How can I help you?

We will first work together to identify what the issues are. We will then work on understanding their cause(s) and providing insight into them. We will find out what meaning they have in your life and how you would like to see your life differently. A lot of people think that they’re born that way, but that’s wrong. No one is born in an unstable relationship.

Together we will investigate which underlying factors contribute to your unstable relationship. My years of experience and my specialized education have already allowed me to help many clients to reconnect with themselves and others based on trust and equality. I look forward to helping you with this.

Schema Therapy

Schema Therapy promotes healthy relationships and self-care. It is intended for clients who do not respond to other therapies, or sometimes for those with a diagnosed disorder. It combines elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychoanalysis, attachment theory, emotionally focused therapy and Gestalt therapy. It uses experimental techniques and has been scientifically proven to be effective.

Trauma Therapy (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy that helps transform traumatic memories and unfavorable life experiences into an adaptive solution. It is currently one of the most effective proven treatments in the field of trauma and other adverse life events.

Emotionally Focused Relationship Therapy (EFT)

EFT is also scientifically proven to be effective and offers short-term, structured relationship therapy aimed at promoting a safe connection between partners. It helps partners find new ways to break destructive patterns and promotes better communication for the long-term strengthening of their relationship bond.
